About Us
WHAT MAKES A COMPANY “WELL BUILT”
WELL BUILT DNA
Let’s face it, we’re not for everyone. WELL BUILT Companies are a special breed. The companies we work with are made up of people who share a common set of traits and beliefs that make them a perfect fit for our solutions. Even if these traits reflect who they want to be more than who they are today, people with WELL BUILT DNA will see what our company is doing and want to be a part of it. If that’s not you, it’s all good! But if it is you, we should talk…soon.
Our reputation is everything, and working with a wrong-fit company is bad for everyone involved, so we’re looking for the right mutual fit. To decide if we ought to work together, here’s what we’re looking for in YOU.
Evolved Priorities
Having a profitable construction company isn’t your only goal. You recognize that being a great contractor leads to profit and you prioritize the customer and employee experience over short-term financial wins.
Our Vision and Values
Our vision is to play a role in guiding great construction companies to change the building industry for good by improving their businesses and running projects as one team. The Well Built brand is synonymous with progress in the building industry.
We stand for positive change. That means we seek avenues of progress and replace antiquated industry norms with new methods that improve results for companies, customers, and employees. We believe in the power of relationships and empathy, and that people should do business with people they trust.
Our clients are bold and so are we. We believe the building industry improves when good companies raise the bar on the customer, vendor, and employee experience. We believe in the power of radical transparency to empower companies and employees to make better decisions about who to hire and where to work. We believe in industry involvement and giving without strings attached.
Forward Thinking
You have a desire to lead advancements in the building industry and to benefit from those advancements as a company. You are making decisions this year that will improve your profits 10 years from now, and you recognize that helping the industry to advance is going to help you in the long run, even if some of your competition also benefit.
Different
Your company is different, and you believe in your value in the market. When a prospective buyer tells you that you’re “equal” or being compared “apples to apples” it really bothers you. You’ve worked hard to be different and better than your competition.
Committed
You’re committed to being better all the time. Doing something because it’s “the way we’ve always done it” simply isn’t an option for you. You are only interested in doing something because it’s the right and best way to do it.
Adaptable
You believe the building industry is changing and that change is necessary. Innovations excite rather than annoy you. When changes become necessary to continue to make progress, you seek change out and embrace it.

The moment I knew business consulting and coaching was my calling was the first time someone reached out to share the impact my advice had on them personally. In 2008, this long-time construction leader who had all the experience in the world attended a training session about business development. About 3 months later he told me, "I've been doing things the hard way for a long time. This stuff is changing my life!" I was hooked. The building industry is filled with the hardest working, no-BS people in our economy and I believe they deserve a better return on their time, money, and energy than they're getting.
Founder & CEO
My construction career began early, building houses during the summer with my grandfather in Western Colorado, and has included a variety of roles. After over 15 years, I have supported projects from the field to the office, from sweeping floors as a laborer to managing projects as a Project Manager, and acquiring work as an Estimator in both Specialty and General Contracting companies. I bring a background in the training and adoption of construction technologies and am passionate about not leveraging technology for its own sake, but for the success of the team.
Group DirectorJoshua LaSharr
I began my professional career as an interior designer and, after eight years in design, I recognized that my strengths and interests leaned toward project management. I found energy in leading teams, partnering with clients, and tracking schedules and deliverables—work that allowed me to build on my natural inclination for organization and project execution. Through my experience leading design projects, I was most energized during the information-gathering phase. I love the puzzle of listening to clients, translating their needs into actionable solutions, and finding clear, effective ways to communicate information among all stakeholders.

My dad built houses, which, from an early age, gave me a deep appreciation for the Construction industry and the people in it. When I joined the industry after college, I excelled as a Project Manager and Estimator for a specialty subcontractor, eventually reaching Vice President, Preconstruction & Sales at 28-years-old while also getting my Master’s Degree in Construction Management part-time from Purdue University. I was fortunate to learn not just how to run projects, but how to build teams, culture, and a profitable construction business.
Division Vice President
I bring almost a decade of experience in the construction industry, split evenly between on-site field operations and high-level strategy work. I've managed projects in the field and advised companies on strategy and operations, giving me a unique perspective on how the industry works and how it can improve. I started my career in on-site project management with a mid-sized general contractor in DC, focused on commercial and institutional projects.
Senior ConsultantJanet McBee
Throughout my career, I’ve managed diverse projects, from custom homes to large-scale commercial and multifamily developments. My hands-on experience includes project management, site supervision, and quality control. Beyond construction, I find fulfillment in coaching and mentoring others. Whether it’s guiding a new team member or helping someone achieve their goals, I thrive on seeing others succeed.

Getting the best results for our clients relies on how good our internal team members, processes and strategies are. My expertise focuses on building a better and more profitable Well Built. I have been successful in implementing strategic initiatives for boutique professional services firms, building processes focused on client service and satisfaction, developing happy and extremely successful people and running daily operations with various teams at a young age. I'm grateful to have had a variety of experiences in my early 20s that allowed me to take on this executive-level position at Well Built.

I bring over two decades worth of executive level, leadership experience where I have had the pleasure of leading small teams of 5 people to larger teams consisting of over 25 direct reports and 250 employees. I have spent the majority of my career in the service and construction industry and have worked with family-owned companies, start-ups, private equity and large corporations. Using skills that I have learned along the way, I enjoy team building, coaching and mentoring. Nothing is more satisfying than sitting with a team to uncover obstacles, developing strategic plans and seeing them implemented successfully.
Group DirectorNeil Carlson
Raised in a family of engineers, carpenters, and builders, I initially set out to forge a different path after earning my Business degree from Shippensburg University. Yet, over the past two decades, I’ve built a rewarding career in general construction. My experience spans project procurement, on-site execution of high-profile builds, back-office leadership, and serving on an Executive Leadership Team at an ENR Top 20 National General Contractor. It was there that I discovered my passion for building businesses and teams, and for implementing strategies that drive growth and success.
Senior ConsultantAdam Decker
I've built my career at the intersection of structure and strategy with a foundation of two decades in finance and over five years in construction. My experience includes estimation and project coordination for an interior finishes contractor, accounting services for a union concrete company, and facilitating the launch of a new electrical division. Most recently, I coached more than 50 subtrade contractors across the U.S. and Canada on business strategy, financial clarity, and scalable growth.

My dad did sheet metal, both of my grandfathers were general contractors, my uncle did concrete, and now I spend weekends with my brother-in-law doing renovation work. Although my career path didn't directly lead to construction, it took me through sales and marketing. After 7 years of personal and career development, I found Well Built. I bring a data-driven mindset and enthusiasm for building better internal systems to drive results. My diverse industry experience includes military contracting, healthcare, publishing, AI/machine learning software, and industrial recycling.
