Senior Consultant

Position Summary
The Senior Consultant is a key leader within Well Built Construction Consulting, responsible for leading client engagements, driving strategic change, and contributing to business development. This role requires deep industry knowledge, the ability to build trust with construction executives, and a proven track record of delivering measurable results for clients.
Senior Consultants work with clients at all levels, particularly senior executives, to assess needs, develop and implement solutions, and oversee the execution of strategic initiatives. They also contribute to Well Built’s growth by developing new business, retaining existing clients, and mentoring junior team members. This role carries accountability for profitable client engagements, strong account retention and growth, effective team leadership, and consistent delivery of measurable client results.
Key Responsibility Areas
1. Effectively Lead Client Engagements Toward Results
Outcome: Client engagements deliver measurable results and consistently positive feedback, are executed profitably, and are led with strong relationship management, strategic effectiveness, and accountability.
o Maintain an average quarterly billable utilization rate of 80–85%.
o Client projects are profitable, with an average yield of approximately $475 per hour.
Tasks:
Lead consulting engagements with construction executives and leadership teams.
Assess client needs, define project scope, and develop tailored solutions.
Oversee execution of strategic initiatives, leveraging Well Built’s resources or direct involvement.
Oversee and directly complete execution and implementation support tasks as based on your subject matter expertise.
Facilitate leadership team meetings, ensuring accountability and execution.
Adjust strategy and recommendations based on real-time insights during engagements.
Lead client engagements with full accountability for relationship quality, execution effectiveness, and results.
Ensure project scope, staffing, and delivery are managed to support profitability and yield targets.
Regularly review engagement performance and client feedback with the Group Director.
2. Retain and Manage Client Accounts
Outcome: Client accounts are retained, grown, and transitioned effectively, resulting in stable recurring revenue, account expansion, and long-term client relationships.
o Maintain a minimum 90% recurring monthly revenue (RMR) retention rate across managed accounts.
o Achieve a 95% conversion rate from Discovery engagements to RMR.
o Manage a book of business up to $800,000, with quarter-over-quarter growth and controlled capacity.
o Drive at least 10% annual RMR expansion through account growth and upselling.
Tasks:
Build and maintain strong trusted relationships with construction executives, as directed by Group Director.
Act as a strategic advisor, ensuring clients feel supported and understood.
Proactively address client challenges and adjust strategies as needed.
Ensure client satisfaction through regular follow-ups, responsiveness, and clear communication.
Own account retention and expansion strategies for assigned clients.
Lead the transition of new customers from Discovery through RMR onboarding.
Proactively identify expansion opportunities and collaborate with leadership on account growth strategies.
Supervision and Mentorship
Outcome: Junior consultants are effectively supervised, developed, and mentored, resulting in improved performance, capability growth, and team capacity.
Tasks:
Supervise the work of lower-level consultants, coordinating closely with the Project Management team.
Serve as a mentor to assigned Level III, II, and I consultants based on individual development goals.
Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance guidance to direct and indirect reports.
Report to the Division VP while working day-to-day with the Group Director on staffing, priorities, and project execution.

10+ years in the construction industry.
Proven track record of leading and implementing complex organizational change initiatives.
Experience delivering presentations, training, and facilitation for leadership teams.
Strong professional network in the construction sector.
Familiarity with consulting in organizations with limited talent development systems.

Deep construction industry expertise, with the ability to speak the language of construction professionals.
Strong business acumen and consulting skills, including strategy execution and organizational change management.
Ability to assess, design, build, and lead external consulting engagements.
Strong facilitation skills, including the ability to read the room and adjust meeting dynamics.
Exceptional relationship-building skills, earning trust and credibility with executives.
High energy and a natural ability to engage and inspire teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and training delivery.
Ability to work autonomously, making sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.

4. New Business Development & Sales (Preferred, Not Required)
Outcome: Support firm growth through participation in business development, relationship development, and account expansion activities, as preferred, though strongly encouraged for continued growth.
Tasks:
Support new business origination through account expansion, self-origination, and company-generated opportunities, as preferred.
Participate in relationship development, networking, and other business development activities to support long-term growth.
Support onboarding of new customers and assist in the transition from sales to active client engagement.
