Senior Consultant
Overview
The Senior Consultant is a key leader within Well Built Consulting, responsible for leading client engagements, driving strategic change, and contributing to business development. This role requires deep industry knowledge, the ability to build trust with construction executives, and a proven track record of delivering measurable results for clients.
Senior Consultants work with clients at all levels, particularly senior executives, to assess needs, develop and implement solutions, and oversee the execution of strategic initiatives. They also contribute to Well Built’s growth by developing new business, retaining existing clients, and mentoring junior team members. We are specifically looking for someone in the Maryland, DC, Virginia, Pennsylvania or Delaware metro areas who is willing to drive and travel daily to client offices.
Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)
1. Leading Client Engagements & Strategy Execution
Outcome:
Clients achieve measurable business improvements through consulting engagements.
Strategic initiatives are successfully executed, with clear impact and follow-through.
Maintain a 80-85% billable utilization rate MoM.
Tasks:
Lead consulting engagements with construction executives and leadership teams.
Assess client needs, define project scope, and develop tailored solutions.
Oversee execution of strategic initiatives, leveraging Well Built’s resources or direct involvement.
Oversee and directly complete execution and implementation support tasks as based on your subject matter expertise.
Facilitate leadership team meetings, ensuring accountability and execution.
Adjust strategy and recommendations based on real-time insights during engagements.
2. Facilitating Training & Development
Outcome:
Clients gain critical skills through expert training and facilitation.
Well Built is recognized as a thought leader in construction leadership and business consulting.
Tasks:
Deliver presentations, workshops, and training as defined by the scope of work.
Facilitate executive and management team discussions to align on key initiatives.
Provide structured coaching to help leaders develop skills and drive results.
3. Client Relationship Management & Retention
Outcome:
Clients experience exceptional service, leading to high retention and referrals, specifically a 90% client retention rate.
Manages up to $799,999/year book of business.
Well Built maintains a reputation for excellence and trusted advisory relationships.
Tasks:
Build and maintain strong trusted relationships with construction executives, as directed by Group Director.
Act as a strategic advisor, ensuring clients feel supported and understood.
Proactively address client challenges and adjust strategies as needed.
Ensure client satisfaction through regular follow-ups, responsiveness, and clear communication.
4. Internal Leadership & Mentorship
Outcome:
Well Built’s team continues to grow and improve through strong internal leadership.
Junior team members develop into high-performing consultants.
Tasks:
Mentor and develop Level I and II Consultants, providing guidance, feedback, and training.
Contribute to the development of new consulting processes and service offerings.
Lead internal discussions on best practices and continuous improvement with the Executive Team.
Track and manage time to ensure effective allocation across projects and responsibilities.
5. Business Development & Client Growth (Optional)
Outcome:
Well Built continues to expand its client base and revenue through new and existing relationships.
Clients experience long-term success, leading to ongoing engagements.
Tasks:
Identify and pursue new business opportunities with construction firms.
Expand relationships with existing clients, uncovering additional service needs.
Develop and deliver sales presentations, proposals, and thought leadership content.
Build Well Built’s brand presence in the construction industry through networking and public speaking.
Skills & Experience
Experience:
10+ years in the construction industry.
Proven track record of leading and implementing complex organizational change initiatives.
Experience delivering presentations, training, and facilitation for leadership teams.
Strong professional network in the construction sector.
Familiarity with consulting in organizations with limited talent development systems.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Deep construction industry expertise, with the ability to speak the language of construction professionals.
Strong business acumen and consulting skills, including strategy execution and organizational change management.
Ability to assess, design, build, and lead external consulting engagements.
Strong facilitation skills, including the ability to read the room and adjust meeting dynamics.
Exceptional relationship-building skills, earning trust and credibility with executives.
High energy and a natural ability to engage and inspire teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and training delivery.
Ability to work autonomously, making sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Strong time management and project management abilities.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation: Dependent upon experience in Construction AND Consulting | $120,000 - $150,000 base
20% of salary bonus based on hitting company performance goals
